The Importance of Saving for Your Child’s Education

You hear frequently how important it is to ensure you save for your Child’s education, but do you truly know why?

Importance of Saving for Your Child's Education

Saving for your Child’s education is quite important for many different reasons.

Help Reduce Debt

When you contribute to a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for your child, you’ are helping to provide an opportunity for them to receive a post-secondary education, without incurring as much of a financial burden after the fact.  Let’s be honest, debt stinks, so if you can give your child the chance to start their career without it, I say go for it!

Government Grants

When you contribute to an RESP, your child could be eligible to receive certain grants that can also help to relieve the financial burden of post-secondary education. These grants vary by province and are subject to different terms and conditions. Taking advantage of grants is a great way to raise even more money for your child’s future.

Higher Education

Providing a secure future for your child is important, and there’s no denying that a post-secondary education can be beneficial when it comes time for them to have a career. By saving now for your child to attend school in the future, you are most certainly providing more security for their education. In fact, you may be making it easier for them to receive a higher education!

In my opinion, there are many reasons to save for your child’s education. To me, it’s just important to know that I’m taking all the steps I can to help my children have a chance at an amazing future.

I want my kids to be able to be whatever they want to be. I want them to have the opportunity to attend post-secondary education without having to spend years and years paying for it afterwards. I want to provide them with an incredible future. In my eyes, contributing to an RESP is the best thing I can do to ensure that they have a chance to realize their dreams.

After all, isn’t that what every parents wants? We all want our kids to be the best they can be, get the most out of their education and out of life, and do something that they love.

Find a Rep to help you get started on saving for your child’s post-secondary education today, and take comfort in the fact that with the help of an RESP, you’re providing your child with the chance at a bright future.
