Note to self: Do NOT purchase your children expensive beds. Instead tell them they are camping, buy them a cheap roll pillow, give them a blanket and let them sleep on the floor. No the floors not cold. No the floors not uncomfortable, the floor… it is free…. and SO worth the amount of time that they will spend sleeping on it, instead of the expensive bed you drove 2 hours to buy…. on sale, in a truck you borrowed, only to bring it home… assemble it, and go into your child’s room to find them sleeping on the FLOOR! THAT was a serious WHAT THE HECK moment.
Little Man is OBSESSED with Race Cars. We found this bed on sale at a store, 2 hours away from where we lived at the time, and jumped on the chance to give him the bed of his dreams.. Turns out, he is just as happy sleeping on the floor. Had I have known that… I would not have bothered… with the brand new bed… the brand new mattress… and those expensive sheets… pffft, no chance… BUT, we went all out thinking it would make him happy.
If I was aware that a cheap pillow to decorate the bed and his blankie would serve him well on the floor, who is to say I would have felt the need to find him the bed of his “dreams”? That bed he is dreaming about; is in his room, except he is dreaming about it from his darn FLOOR! If Baby Girl decides she would like a Princess Bed… she can blame her big brother for her brand new spot on the floor with her cheap princess roll pillow and her quilt… Lesson Learned for Momma.
