Life as a Mommy- My Life is Narrated

Life as a Mommy can be interesting. Since Little Man has turned 4 he has been narrating our daily lives… it started out slowly at first… with a few obvious observations here and there… and then, in what seemed like no time, Little Man was stating the obvious about everything…. and it started very early in the morning…. The dialog goes something like this:

LM- Mommy. I am awake.

NM- I see that Little Man can you please go get dressed and we will go downstairs for breakfast.

LM- Mommy, I am getting dressed in pants. These are long pants, they are blue too! Long blue pants and a red shirt. My shirt is so red. Red is my favorite colour. I like red everything… Red bicycles, Red Popsicles. Mommy can I have a Popsicle after breakfast?

NM- No Little Man, you may not have a popsicle after breakfast. Maybe later today. Now please go downstairs.

LM- Ok Mommy. I like popscicles later too. I am walking down the stairs, do you remember that time you fell down the stairs? You hurt yourself very badly and were sad. I don’t like being sad. I Don’t like it when you’re sad. I want you to be happy. Are you happy today Mommy?

NM- Yes Little Man I am happy today. Now please just eat your breakfast quietly and let Mommy drink a coffee….

LM- Ok Mommy. I am having cereal for breakfast, I like cereal. Do you like cereal?

NM- Yes Little Man, I like cereal, but no talking when you are eating please. (As I frantically try to get a coffee made so that I may be able to enjoy the first sip in silence)

LM- Ok Mommy. When I am done eating we will talk some more. I like talking… Did you know that? That coffee looks hot….

I think you see where I am going with this. Considering that when this starts I haven’t even had my first sip of coffee yet…. and this usually continues throughout the entire span of the day.

It’s kind of comical to listen to him tell you all these things you already know, and at the same time I know he is learning so it doesn’t make me too crazy, but honestly… there are instances in which the narration goes a bit too far… especially when it follows me to the toilet.
