Feeling the Effects of OrangeTheory Fitness #KeepBurningYMC

It has been two months since I began My Journey to Healthy with OrangeTheory Fitness, and I am going to tell you, I still love it.

Being that I wanted to get more in shape and lose weight, I couldn’t wait to join a program that was more than “just a gym’. I knew that going to a gym would cause problems, I needed a Personal Trainer without the high costs associated with that. What I found? Group personal Training workouts at OrangeTheory Fitness. Huge fan.

OrangeTheory FitnessIf you take a look at my first post (link above) you will see why I wanted to lose weight and get more in shape. As a busy, work at home mom of two finding the time to attend a program can be pretty difficult. Luckily for me, OrangeTheory Fitness offers such a wide variety of time slots to choose from, they virtually took away ALL my excuses. WHAT WHAAAT!? Yes!

Now, since starting in November, I have had a few minor set backs… sickness, and a few other issues that really did prevent me from visiting OrangeTheory as much as I would have liked, but none the less the results of my ambition to shed these pounds are making a difference.

The before picture from 2014 can be seen on my first post but I will reiterate it here too, because the difference astounds me. I am wearing the same shirt in both the before and after pictures. (The shirt does look like a different colour but we have moved since the first picture so very different lighting. It’s the same I promise)

After2017- OrangeTheory

You see, fitness makes a difference. It REALLY does. Especially with OrangeTheory. I have never felt SO motivated to continue down the path of healthy choices, lifestyle changes and frequent exercise. I not only am more comfortable in my own skin but I feel stronger and healthier! I just FEEL better.

What’s Great About OrangeTheory Fitness

splatNot so Intimidating- OrangeTheory fitness is an amazing place to get your exercise on. I mean I was totally intimidated (as I always am) by the idea of hitting the gym, but I so shouldn’t have been. That’s not to say the workouts are easy, because they aren’t AT ALL… but they aren’t SCARY. Your coaches are really open and welcoming and ensure you that even if you are a beginner you can achieve your goals.

Heart rate Monitor- When you workout at OrangeTheory Fitness you are provided with a heart rate Monitor. The coolest thing? There are TV Monitors that you can check out that show each person in the class’ name and progress. HELLO competitive people… this is great motivation.

The Workouts- The Workouts aren’t focused on one station in particular. There are floor workouts, Treadmill workouts and of course.. the rower. The rower is my personal favourite. Each class is different, sometimes you focus more on one station than the others but there is always an amazing mix of workouts included.

The Emails- When you are finished your workout, you get a specialized email report sent to you in your inbox. This helps you to track your progress and compare to the last workout, because in all honesty the best person to compete with is yourself. The emails include your calories burned, your average heart rate, your heart rate zones and how many splat points you earned that session.

Heart Rate Zones-  There are 5 different heart rate zones that you will focus on during an OrangeTheory workout. The Gray zone is 50-60% of your maximum heart-rate. This zone is your “resting zone.” The Blue zone is 61-70% of your maximum heart-rate. This is your warm-up period and a comfortable pace, also referred to as “BASE”. The Green zone is 71-83% of your maximum heart-rate. This is referred to as “PUSH”. The Green zone is when you push yourself a little bit harder. Then we have the Orange zone which is 84-91% of your maximum heart-rate, this is called “ALL OUT”. All show up on the TV monitors so you can track them and your coach can also see them. The Red Zone is 92-100% of your maximum heart-rate. If you reach this level your coaches will be checking on you to ensure that you are still feeling ok.

Burn Calories for 36 Hours- Working out with OrangeTheory Fitness can help you burn additional calories for up to 36 hours! Who DOESN’T want to burn calories for hours after their workout?

OrangeTheory Fitness provides amazing workouts, fantastic trainers and great motivation. I can’t wait to continue my journey with OrangeTheory and Keep feeling Stronger!
