How to Connect With Your Kids About What They are Streaming #StreamTeam

Kids can be hard to understand sometimes. Let’s face it, as adults we can relate as we have been there, but it was a while ago and things have changed over the years. It is great to find things to connect over and discuss and while that can seem few and far between, there are some options out there that can get the conversation in motion.

You can stray away from the “How was School?” “Fine.” “What did you do today?” “Nothing.” banter. No matter how engaging and exciting that conversation is, it’s good to find something to REALLY connect on.

So how can you Connect with your kids? What can you do to truly have a conversation?

There are many things you can do! Many. However, after a long stressful day of work, school, football practice and home stuff you all just want to relax. So what to do? Netflix.

Relax and bond as a family over shows that you can watch together.

For us we really enjoyed streaming Full House together. The kids loved it and it brought up some really important discussions as family. We talked about Honesty, Behavior, Family dynamics and more. It was a great way to relax, snuggle and have great conversations without all the “nothings” and “fines” I hear through out the rest of the day.

It’s easy to find a show on Netflix that your entire family will love and while my kids are still young, this also works with Teenagers.

Start The Conversation with Your Teens

You may not always understand your teen or tween. In fact, 70% of parents worldwide wish they had more to talk about with them. A recent Netflix study reveals a new place where you can find common ground: Entertainment. Canadian parents (82%) are already watching teen shows to feel closer to them and teens around the world (74%) are on board, saying they’d be interested in talking to parents about the shows they watch. With the majority (89%) of Canadian parents agreeing entertainment would give them something to talk about, let Netflix be the common ground and try taking a walk in your kid’s shows.
